the long school summer holiday has
arrived along with the rain...
first film of the season is transformers....

after a few days grounded at hotel smit with summer
fever gidionics finally venture out......

a short cut through the amsterdam food center-
the abattoir with it's polished silver chimney...



we find the westerpark has been transformed
(in parts) into a green oasis



the old watertower-once a landmark on the horizon-
now dwarved by housing developments



a sad victim of city regeneration-the zaagmolen.
until recently a functioning sawmill and a rare example
of living history.it was the only working dutch windmill we ever
saw in it's intended context and will probably be the last..

sometimes progress sucks
